2.4 Management server
The Dell PowerEdge R320 server is set up as the management server that allows remote
management and monitoring of all the DISOD hardware components. Table 3 lists all the
components in the management server.

The management server is preinstalled and configured with Microsoft Windows Server
2012 as the base OS. It is also preconfigured with the following two Hyper-V virtual
machines (VMs):
WinVM: Preinstalled with Windows Server 2012 as the guest OS. Is primarily
created to install the DISOD management software.
LinVM: Preinstalled with Oracle Linux 6.6 running Red Hat Compatible Kernel as
the guest OS. Is available to provide a Linux-based environment to access the
DISOD hardware components.
Hereafter, in this document, these two VMs will be referred to as WinVM and LinVM, unless
stated otherwise. For information about the OS configuration on the management server,
see the
4.3 Management server configuration
section.
