– vFlash SD card is inserted, enabled, and initialized.

– vFlash SD card has at least 100 MB free space to store the backup le.

The backup le contains encrypted user sensitive data, conguration information, and rmware images that you can use for import

server prole operation.

Backup events are recorded in the Lifecycle Log.

Backing up server prole using iDRAC web interface

To back up the server prole using iDRAC Web interface:

1. Go to Overview → iDRAC Settings → Server Prole.

The Backup and Export Server Prole page is displayed.

2. Select one of the following to save the backup le image:

• Network to save the backup le image on a CIFS or NFS share.

• vFlash to save the backup le image on the vFlash card.

3. Enter the backup le name and encryption passphrase (optional).

4. If Network is selected as the le location, enter the network settings.

NOTE: While specifying the network share settings, it is recommended to avoid special characters for user name and

password or percent encode the special characters.

5. Click Backup Now.

The backup operation is initiated and you can view the status on the Job Queue page. After a successful operation, the backup

le is created in the specied location.

Backing up server prole using RACADM

To back up the server prole using RACADM, use the systemcong backup command.

Scheduling automatic backup server prole

You can enable and schedule periodic backups of the rmware and server conguration based on a certain day, week, or month.

Before scheduling automatic backup server prole operation, make sure that:

• Lifecycle Controller and Collect System Inventory On Reboot (CSIOR) option is enabled.

• Network Time Protocol (NTP) is enabled so that time drift does not aect the actual times of scheduled jobs running and when

the next scheduled job is created.

• To perform backup on a vFlash SD card:

– A Dell supported vFlash SD card is inserted, enabled, and initialized.

– vFlash SD card has enough space to store the backup le.

NOTE: IPv6 address is not supported for scheduling automatic backup server prole.

Scheduling automatic backup server prole using web interface

To schedule automatic backup server prole:

1. In the iDRAC Web interface, go to Overview → iDRAC Settings → Server Prole.
