Configuring the vFlash Media Card for Use With iDRAC6 239
Uploading Disk Image

Ensure that the image file size is not larger than 256 MB.
NOTE: Though your vFlash card may be larger than 256 MB, only 256 MB is
accessible at this time.
NOTE: Virtual Flash allows you to store emergency boot image and diagnostic
tools directly on the vFlash Media.The image file can be a DOS bootable
floppy image as a *.img file for Windows or a diskboot.img file from the Red
Hat
®
Enterprise Linux
®
media for Linux. The diskboot.img can be used to
create a rescue disk or create a disk to perform network installations. You can
use virtual flash to house a persistent image for general or emergency use in
future.

Log in to the iDRAC6 Web interface.

In the system tree, select
System
.

Click the
VFlash
tab.
The
VFlash
screen is displayed.

Clear the
Virtual Flash Enable
option.

In the
Virtual Flash Drive
section, enter the path to the image file or click
Browse
to navigate to its location on your system.
Click
Upload
.
A status bar is displayed, indicating upload progress.
NOTE: You can upload a bootable ISO image to the virtual flash partition, but it will
no longer be bootable. Convert the ISO image to an IMG image to make the IMG
image bootable.
Viewing the Virtual Flash Key Size
The Virtual Flash Key Size drop-down menu displays the current size setting.
