234 Using GUI Virtual Console
Does switching off the local video also
switch off the local keyboard and
mouse?
Yes.
Does turning off the local console turn
off the video on the remote console
session?
No, turning the local video on or off is
independent of the remote console session.
What privileges are needed for an
iDRAC6 user to turn on or off the local
server video?
Any user with iDRAC6 configuration
privileges can turn the local console on or
off.
How can I get the current status of the
local server video?
The status is displayed on the Virtual
Console and Virtual Media screen of
iDRAC6 Web interface.
The RACADM CLI command
racadm
getconfig –g cfgRacTuning
displays the status in the object
cfgRacTuneLocalServerVideo. This racadm
command can be executed from
Telnet/SSH or a remote session to iDRAC6.
The remote RACADM command is:
racadm -r <idracip> -u
<user> -p <password>
getconfig -g cfgRacTuning
The status is also seen on the Virtual
Console OSCAR display. When the local
console is enabled, a green status is
displayed next to the server name. When
disabled, a yellow dot indicates that the
local console is locked by iDRAC6.
I cannot see the bottom of the system
screen from the Virtual Console
window.
Ensure that the management station’s
monitor resolution is set to 1280x1024.
