Configuring the Management Station 75
Installing Telnet or SSH Clients
By default, iDRAC6 Telnet service is disabled and the SSH service is enabled.
Since Telnet is an insecure protocol, you should use it only if you cannot
install an SSH client or your network connection is otherwise secured.
NOTE: iDRAC6 supports up to 4 Telnet sessions and 4 SSH sessions
simultaneously.
Telnet with iDRAC6
Telnet client is included in Windows and Linux operating systems, and can
be run from a command shell. You may also choose to install a commercial or
freely available Telnet client with more convenience features than the
standard version included with your operating system.
Configuring the Backspace Key For Telnet Sessions
Depending on the Telnet client, using the <Backspace> key may produce
unexpected results. For example, the session may echo ^h. However,
most Microsoft and Linux Telnet clients can be configured to use the
<Backspace> key.
To configure Microsoft Telnet clients to use the <Backspace> key,
perform the following steps:
1
Open a command prompt window (if required).
2
If you are not running a Telnet session, enter:
telnet
If you are running a Telnet session, press <Ctrl><]>.
3
At the prompt, enter:
set bsasdel
The following message is displayed:
Backspace will be sent as delete.
