Configuring the vFlash Media Card for Use With iDRAC6 225
Formatting the vFlash Media Card
NOTE: The Format option is active only if a vFlash card is present. Also, the SD
card can be formatted only if vFlash is disabled.

Log in to iDRAC6 Web interface.

In the system tree, select
System
.

Click the
vFlash
tab.
The
vFlash
screen appears.

Ensure that vFlash is disabled. Clear the
vFlash Enable
check box.

Click
Format
to create the vFlash image file,
ManagedStore.IMG
, on the
SD card. The text file
ManagedStore.ID
is also created on the SD card
and it provides information about the vFlash image.
An alert box appears, warning that any existing image on the card will be
erased during formatting and requesting confirmation. Click
OK
to continue.
A status bar is displayed, indicating formatting progress.
Uploading Disk Image

Ensure that the image file has the extension
.img
and that the image is not
larger than 256 MB.
NOTE: Though your vFlash card may be larger than 256 MB, only 256 MB is
accessible at this time. vFlash allows you to store emergency boot image and
diagnostic tools directly on the vFlash Media.The image file can be a DOS
bootable floppy image as a *.img file for Windows or a diskboot.img file from
the Red Hat
®
Enterprise Linux
®
media for Linux. The diskboot.img can be
used to create a rescue disk or create a disk to perform network installations.
vFlash can be used to store a persistent image for general or emergency use
in future.

Ensure that vFlash is disabled. Clear the
vFlash Enable
check box.

vFlash Drive
section, enter the path to the image file or click
Browse
to navigate to its location on your system.
