NOTE: HyperTerminal and Telnet settings must be consistent with the settings on the
managed system. For example, the baud rates and terminal modes should match.
NOTE: The Windows telnet command that is run from a MS-DOS
®
prompt
supports ANSI terminal emulation, and the BIOS needs to be set for ANSI emulation
to display all the screens correctly.
Before Using SOL proxy
Before using SOL proxy, see the Baseboard Management Controller Utilities
User's Guide to learn how to configure your management stations. By default,
BMC Management Utilities are installed in the following directory on
Windows operating systems:
C:\Program Files\Dell\SysMgt\bmc
— (32–bit operating system)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\SysMgt\bmc
— (64–bit operating system)
The installation program copies the files to the following locations on Linux
Enterprise Operating Systems:
/etc/init.d/SOLPROXY.cfg
/etc/SOLPROXY.cfg
/usr/sbin/dsm_bmu_solproxy32d
/usr/sbin/solconfig
/usr/sbin/ipmish
Initiating the SOL Proxy session
For Windows 2003
To start the SOL Proxy service on Windows system after installation, you can
reboot the system (SOL Proxy automatically starts on a reboot). Or, you can
start the SOL Proxy service manually by completing the following steps:

The
Computer Management
window is displayed.

.
Available services are displayed to the right.
