3 To retrieve logs with more details, view the temp folder. To determine the temp folder, run the following command in Windows
PowerShell:
[System.IO.Path]::GetTempPath()
The temp folder path is something similar to: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\2\. If the temp folder path includes a
numbered folder, such as 2, 3, or 4, go up one folder level to the
\Temp folder. If you browse in File Explorer, AppData is a hidden
folder. You can type the folder path to get to it, for example:
Figure 41. Updating the Temp folder
In the \Temp folder, look for the le that is named PUProgressDetails.txt.
4 View running jobs in the VMM console, in the Jobs workspace.
5 The console VM automatically restarts at the very end of the patching process. This closes the Windows PowerShell session. To verify
that P&U successfully completed, look for the following event in Event Viewer, under Applications and Services Logs > PUEventLog
> Operational on the Console VM. Search for CompletePU.

NOTE
: Dell recommends that you also lter events for any “Critical” or “Error” events. If there are no such events, then
the P&U process was successful. If you do nd any of these types of events, investigate and correct them before re-
running the update process.
When the updates complete, compliance reports are generated at the following location: \\<Prex>SFS\Share01\<CPSPU Folder Name>
\AggregatedLogs.
This folder contains all logs and compliance reports. The top-level folder is a named with a GUID. Sort by date modied to see the latest.
You can open each subfolder to review the compliance report and to verify what was installed.
Post update cleanup
After you have veried that patching has completed successfully, do the following:
Dell recommends that you remove the account that you used for patching from the <
Prex
>-Setup-Admins group. If this account is
an active account that you use for Dell Hybrid Cloud System for Microsoft administration, make sure that it is a member of another
group such as
<
Prex
>-Ops-Admins
Archive the P&U log les to keep an update history, and in case diagnostics or debugging is needed. The log le folder is at the path \
\<Prex>CON01\PUShare\<CPSPU Folder Name>\PU\AggregatedLogs.
If you intend to expand the stamp or add backup hosts soon, you may have to run P&U again. In that case, you may want to keep the
latest update package on the Console VM. Otherwise, after you have archived the log les, you can delete the update package from
the Console VM.
Shutting down and starting up the stamp
There are scenarios where a graceful shutdown of the Dell Hybrid Cloud System for Microsoft stamp may be required. To do this, you must
follow a series of sequenced steps. In addition, the case of a power outage is covered at the end of this section.
