12 Dell EMC Storage Compatibility Matrix for SC, PS, and FS Series Arrays | DSCM
2.7.2 Server interoperability
This compatibility matrix details interoperability from the storage array to various server hosts through a
switched network and one or more network Adapters or host bus Adapters (HBAs). Testing of, and support
for, a specific server platform (such as Dell PowerEdge™ servers) was not performed as part of this program
and customers should visit the server vendor’s website to determine which operating systems and Adapters
are supported by the server vendor.
2.7.3 Host connectivity adapters and server vendor support
This matrix lists many host network Adapters and HBAs that have been tested for use within the indicated
Dell Storage array family SAN environment. It is not implied that all of these Adapters and their
driver/firmware stacks are supported by any or all server vendors. The reader must ensure that the host
network Adapter and its associated drivers are included on the vendor's hardware compatibility list. This
recommendation also applies to Dell PowerEdge server products. Inclusion in this document's adapter
compatibility tables should not be interpreted as that adapter and driver/firmware combination as being
supported by any vendor’s for use with their server products.
2.7.4 Persistent FCIDs
With HP-UX 11i v1 and v2, it is recommended to operate Storage Center in Legacy port mode in concurrence
with the use of Persistent FCID (Cisco) or Persistent PID (Brocade FOS v6.0.4 or newer & 8GB only)
switches (switch-wide or per VSAN accordingly to vendor specifications).
With HP-UX 11i v3 (Agile Addressing/Naming), the Storage Center can be operated in either Legacy or
Virtual port modes. The use of Persistent FCID or Persistent PID is not required for use with HP-UX 11i v3.
Additional information regarding switch level port persistency can be obtained from published Copilot Services
Technical Alerts (CSTAs) located on Knowledge Center at the Dell SC Customer Portal.
The Dell Storage Software Suite for AIX v2.2.0.x introduces new features, enhancements and remove the
need of certain legacy requirements. These new features and enhancements are as noted below. This will be
the only package made available by Dell to customers requesting this driver package and will replace the
existing PCM v1.2.0.1 (and v1.0.0.5) currently in use.
• Supports AIX v6.1 thru v7.1
• Supports use of Storage Center in Virtual port mode
• Negates the need of use of Persistent FCID/PID-enabled switches
• Enhanced hdisk lscfg details
• Allows AIX OS to survive Storage Center controller failover events of up to 60 seconds
2.7.5 Limits of supportability
If any recommendations made by Dell to resolve customer issues — whether they are functional or
performance related — are not followed, Dell cannot guarantee that the issue can be resolved to the
satisfaction of the customer. The ability of Dell to provide customer support is dependent on the customer’s
willingness to implement solution recommendations from Dell.
