Saving restore points should be completed prior to an SRM disaster recovery or planned migration recovery
plan execution. Restore points should also be saved prior to a reprotect operation in SRM.
Save restore points in the following scenarios:
• Prior to a disaster recovery or planned migration recovery plan execution
• After a major SRM event, such as performing a planned migration or disaster recovery
• Prior to a reprotect operation
Note: Prior to performing the reprotect operation in SRM, it is recommended to run the Save Restore Points
operation in DSM or Unisphere Central as well as the Discover Devices operation in SRM for each array in
the pair.
In Unisphere Central, select Save all or Save for individual volume replications.
4.5 Disable automatic restore point saving
As a best practice for all types of replicated storage used with SRM, including Live Volume stretched storage,
disable Automatically save and validate restore points in the Data Collector Replication settings. This will
prevent restore points from becoming degraded after disaster recovery.
