Site Recovery Manager architecture

3.3 Array-based replication: Live Volume stretched storage
Live Volume stretched storage typically depicts two active sites where one site may be impacted by an
unplanned outage. A DSM Data Collector should be available for each recovery site. This could be a data
collector located at each recovery site (see the Data Collector configuration in Figure 2), or a data collector at
a third site which is available by network at the recovery site (see the Data Collector configuration in Figure
3). This ensures that either protected site can be impacted by an unplanned outage and the Data Collector
will be available to SRM for recovery. Live Volumes that are configured for automatic failover, automatic role
swap, uniform storage presentation, or synchronous high consistency replication cannot be protected by
SRM. Live Volume Managed Replications can be used but the Managed Replications are recovered using
Unisphere Central Activate Disaster Recovery and not by the SRM process.
