Global commands
Global commands simplify troubleshooting by providing information on the egress and ingress at the same
time.
The global commands do not point to any specific register. To get information about the registers, use
the specific commands (btm, fpc).
FPTM commands
show hardware linecard {0-13} port-set {0-1 | all} btm {ingress | egress | all} {errors | queues | status}
• errors – Display errors and other counters.
• queues – Display packet queue details.
• status – Display status registers.
clear hardware linecard {0-13} port-set {0-1 | all} btm {ingress | egress | all} {errors | status}
BTM CLIs
These commands’ output will require the Dell Force10 TAC assistance. Save the output to a file so that it
can be used as a record of any system issues.
• Display configuration registers in raw data format; this is likely to be a very long output .
show hardware linecard {0-13} port-set {0-1 | all} btm {ingress | egress | all} register-config
• Display multicast configurations for supergroup IDs.
show hardware linecard {0-13} port-set {0-1 | all} btm {ingress | egress | all} multicast-config
show hardware linecard

status
• Global drops includes all drops for the ingress
FPTM and the egress FPTM.This command
displays all registers, with or without non-zero
values.
• Useful for confirming the packet passed through
the ASIC.
• Compare FC_PKTCNT and BC_PCNT:
•Front-End Connection (FC) counter
increments after a lookup
•Backplane Connection (BC) counter
increments after the packet is accounted for on
receipt from the backplane.
• If the FC counter increments and BC counter
does not, the lookup succeeded, but packet was
dropped on the forwarding path.
