Usage
Information
The Single Window Protocol (SWP) provides flow-control-based reliable communication between the
sending and receiving software tasks.
Important Points to Remember
• A sending task enqueues messages into the SWP queue3 for a receiving task and waits for an
acknowledgement.
• If no response is received within a period of time, the SWP time-out mechanism re-submits the
message at the head of the FIFO queue.
• After retrying several times, the following time-out message is generated:
SWP-2-NOMORETIMEOUT
• In the display output in Example 2 above, a retry (Retries) value of zero indicates that the SWP
mechanism reached the maximum number of retransmissions without an acknowledgement.
