Configure this command up to six times to specify a list of possible domain names. The Dell Networking
OS searches the domain names in the order they were configured until a match is found or the list is
exhausted.
Configuring DNS with Traceroute
To configure your switch to perform DNS with traceroute, use the following commands.
• Enable dynamic resolution of host names.
CONFIGURATION mode
ip domain-lookup
• Specify up to six name servers.
CONFIGURATION mode
ip name-server ip-address [ip-address2 ... ip-address6]
The order you entered the servers determines the order of their use.
• When you enter the traceroute command without specifying an IP address (Extended Traceroute),
you are prompted for a target and source IP address, timeout in seconds (default is 5), a probe count
(default is 3), minimum TTL (default is 1), maximum TTL (default is 30), and port number (default is 33434).
CONFIGURATION mode
traceroute [host | ip-address]
To keep the default setting for these parameters, press the ENTER key.
