Concept Guide

neighbor route-reector-client
Congure the router as a route reector and the specied neighbors as members of the cluster.
Syntax
neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-name} route-reflector-client
To remove one or more neighbors from a cluster, use the no neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-
name} route-reflector-client command. If you delete all members of a cluster, you also delete the
route-reector conguration on the router.
Parameters
ip-address Enter the IP address of the neighbor in dotted decimal format.
peer-group-name Enter the name of the peer group.
All routers in the peer group receive routes from a route reector.
Defaults Not congured.
Command Modes ROUTER BGP
Supported Modes Full–Switch

Version Description
9.9(0.0) Introduced on the FN IOM.
9.2(0.0) Introduced on the MXL 10/40GbE Switch IO Module.
Usage Information
A route reector reects routes to the neighbors assigned to the cluster. Neighbors in the cluster do not need not
to be fully meshed. By default, when you use no route reflector, the internal BGP (IBGP) speakers in the
network must be fully meshed.
The rst time you enter this command, the router congures as a route reector and the specied BGP neighbors
congure as clients in the route-reector cluster.
When you remove all clients of a route reector using the no neighbor route-reflector-client
command, the router no longer functions as a route reector.
If the clients of a route reector are fully meshed, you can congure the route reector to not reect routes to
specied clients by using the no bgp client-to-client reflection command.
Related Commands bgp client-to-client reection — enables route reection between the route reector and the clients.
neighbor shutdown
Disable a BGP neighbor or peer group.
Syntax
neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-name} shutdown
To enable a disabled neighbor or peer group, use the neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-name} no
shutdown command.
Parameters
ip-address Enter the IP address of the neighbor in dotted decimal format.
