Concept Guide
• A destination session that consists of multiple destination ports associated with the dedicated VLAN and located on dierent
destination switches.
Congure a dedicated L2 VLAN for Remote Port Mirroring :
Step Command Syntax Command Mode Task
1 interface vlan vlan-id CONFIGURATION
Create a VLAN to transport mirrored
trac in remote port mirroring.
Valid vlan-id values are 1 to 4094. The
default VLAN ID is not supported.
2 mode remote-port-mirroring VLAN INTERFACE Congure the dedicated L2 VLAN to
be used to transport mirrored trac in
remote port mirroring.
3 tagged interface VLAN INTERFACE
Congure a tagged port to carry
mirrored trac in the reserved VLAN.
Repeat this command to congure
additional tagged ports for the VLAN.
IMPORTANT: On a source switch on which you congure source ports for remote port mirroring, you can add only one port to
the dedicated RPM VLAN which is used to transport mirrored trac. You can congure multiple ports for the dedicated RPM
VLAN on intermediate and destination switches.
4 Repeat 1 & 3 Step On source, intermediate, and
destination switches on which
mirrored trac in the reserved L2
VLAN is transmitted.
To remove the remote-port mirroring assignment from a VLAN, enter the no mode remote-port-mirroring command.
Congure a Source Session on Multiple Switches:
Step
Command Syntax Command Mode Task
1 monitor session session-id CONFIGURATION
Congure a new remote-port mirroring
session or add or delete source ports
from an existing session, and enter
Monitor Session conguration mode.
Up to 4 source sessions are supported
on a switch. Refer to Conguration
Notes for information on datapath
limitations.
session-id: Session number used to
identify the mirroring session. Range:
0 - 65535.
2 source {single-interface | range
{interface-list | interface-range |
mixed-interface-list}} [vlan vlan-id |
vlan range {vlan-list | vlan-range |

vlan vlan-id direction {rx | tx | both}
MONITOR SESSION Congure the dedicated L2 VLAN to
be used to transport mirrored trac in
remote port mirroring
Congure the source ports and
(optional) source VLANs with the
reserved VLAN used to transport
mirrored trac, and the ingress/
egress trac to be mirrored.
