EQL-QIG.book Page 6 Wednesday, September 21, 2011 2:13 PM Installing the Dell EqualLogic Storage Management Pack Suite Download the self extracting executable Dell_EqualLogic_Storage_Management_Pack_Suite_v4.1_A00.exe from support.dell.com and extract the contents to a suitable folder location. To install the Dell EqualLogic Storage management pack: 1 Run the management pack installer. For more information, see Running the Management Pack Installer. 2 Import the management pack in SCOM.
EQL-QIG.book Page 7 Wednesday, September 21, 2011 2:13 PM – Management Pack —This folder contains the following files: • Dell.Connections.HardwareLibrary.mp —Management Pack for defining the Dell Hardware Group and Dell folder in the Monitoring pane of the Operations Console. • Dell.Storage.EqualLogic.mp —Management Pack for monitoring supported EqualLogic storage arrays. Health is monitored upto the storage pools group and volume group of the storage arrays. • Dell.Storage.EqualLogic.
EQL-QIG.book Page 8 Wednesday, September 21, 2011 2:13 PM Post Import Tasks After you import the Dell EqualLogic Storage management packs, you must perform the following tasks to ensure that the Dell EqualLogic storage arrays are discovered and monitored from the SCOM Operations Console: 1 Configure the management server action account with normal user account privileges. For more information on configuring the management server action account, see the SCOM Online Help.

You can use this option to re-install the management pack, missing files, and correct the registry entries. To repair the installation of the Dell EqualLogic management pack: 1 Double-click the Dell_EqualLogic_Storage_Management_Pack_Suite_v4.1.msi file to launch the installer. The Welcome screen appears. 2 Click Next. 3 Select Repair and click Next.
EQL-QIG.book Page 10 Wednesday, September 21, 2011 2:13 PM Pre-Upgrade Tasks (Optional) Before you upgrade to version 4.1 from version 4.0, perform the following steps to back up the alerts generated through version 4.0: 1 Connect to the Database Server that is used by your SCOM/SCE installation. 2 Replace OperationsManager in the following query with the name of your SCOM/SCE database. SQL Query: USE [OperationsManager] GO SELECT [dbo].[Alert].* FROM [dbo].[Alert],[dbo].[BaseManagedEntity], [dbo].

The following message is displayed: Another version of the product is already installed. Would you like to upgrade? 2 Click Yes, and then click Next on the Welcome screen. 3 Accept the license agreement and click Next.
EQL-QIG.book Page 12 Wednesday, September 21, 2011 2:13 PM Uninstalling the Dell EqualLogic Storage Management Pack Suite Before you uninstall the Dell EqualLogic Storage Management Pack Suite, it is recommended to delete the Dell EqualLogic management packs from SCOM. To delete the management pack: 1 Select AdministrationManagement Packs in the Operations Console. 2 Select the EqualLogic Management Pack from the Management Packs pane. 3 Right-click on the selected management pack and click Delete.
