7 Resolved issues
Added support for Intel X540 PCIe 10 GbE Base- T NICs.
8 Known issues and limitations
a. There is no option to cancel an inventory or update within PowerTools CSM.
Update cycles can last for as much as 30 minutes per ESXi host or more, if there are any external
issues causing additional delays.
Workaround: Wait until the cycle completes. However, if this is not possible, it may be necessary to
restart CSM. The easiest way to do this is to restart the CSM VM.
b. PowerTools CSM for EVO:RAIL leaves SSH disabled upon exit regardless of initial state.
Workaround: None at this time.
c. CSM may display some inventory items as critically out of compliance but not be able to update
them.
On the C6220 platform, CSM is not able to update BIOS or NIC firmware. On the C6320 platform,
CSM is not able to update NIC firmware.
Workaround: These items must be flashed by using a manual offline update process. For more
information, contact Dell at Dell.com/support/home.
d. There is no password change option in the PowerTools CSM web GUI.
Workaround: Change the CSM password from a console session to the CentOS Linux VM and use the
standard “passwdat the Linux command interface. For more information, see the
PowerTools CSM
User’s Guide
at Dell.com/support/home.
e. vCenter displays yellow warning badges on all ESXi hosts managed by CSM during a refresh or
update cycle.
While PowerTools CSM is running an inventory or performing updates, it enables and disable SSH
services intermittently on each host as needed. This currently has the side effect of causing yellow
warning badges to appear intermittently on the hosts managed by CSM.
Workaround: None at this time.
f. There is no timeout in CSM for a host entering maintenance mode.
While PowerTools CSM is performing updates on the ESXi hosts it manages, it automatically sets the
current target host in the maintenance mode. If there are issues outside of CSM causing delays in that
process (for example, delays to vMotion migrations), CSM waits indefinitely for the host to enter
maintenance mode.
Workaround: Wait until the host is able to enter the maintenance mode, at which time, CSM continues
normally. However, if this is not possible, it may be necessary to restart CSM. The easiest way to do
this is to reboot the CSM VM.
g. CSM shows NIC firmware critically out of compliance if version 17.0.12 Intel NIC firmware is
installed on any enabled LOMs or PCIe NICs.
