NOTE: You must install a ller bracket over an empty expansion card slot to maintain Federal Communications Commission

(FCC) certication of the system. The brackets also keep dust and dirt out of the system and aid in proper cooling and

airow inside the system.

Installing expansion card into expansion card riser

Prerequisites

1 Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.

2 If installing a new expansion card, unpack it and prepare the card for installation.

NOTE: For instructions, see the documentation accompanying the card.

Steps

1 If installed, remove the ller bracket.

NOTE: Store the ller bracket for future use. Filler brackets must be installed in empty expansion card slots to maintain

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certication of the system. The brackets also keep dust and dirt out of the

system and aid in proper cooling and airow inside the system.

2 Holding the expansion card by its edges, position the card so that the connector on the card aligns with the connector on the riser.

3 Insert the connector on the card into the connector on the riser until the card is fully seated.

4 Slide the PCIe retention bracket down to hold the card in place.

NOTE

: This step is applicable only if you are installing the expansion cards in the slots 12 and 13 of Riser 3 (IO_RISER3) and

slots 9 and 10 of Riser 2(IO_RISER2).

5 Close the PCIe card latch.
