Removing the hard drive backplane
The procedure to remove the backplane is identical for all backplane conīgurations.
Prerequisites
CAUTION
: To prevent damage to the drives and backplane, remove the hard drives from the system before removing the
backplane.
CAUTION: Note the number of each hard drive and temporarily label them before you remove the hard drive so that you can
replace them in the same location.
1 Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
2 Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
3 Remove the air shroud.
4 Remove the cooling fan assembly.
5 Remove the backplane cover.
6 Remove all hard drives.
7 Disconnect all the cables from the backplane.
Step
Press the release tabs and lift the backplane to disengage the backplane from the hooks on the system.
