Chassis Overview
The NX3240 system is a Windows Storage Server system with up to 24 DIMMs, and storage capacity of up to 18 drives.
Drives are installed in three bays:
● Up to 12 3.5-inch (SAS or SATA) front accessible drives in slots 0 to 11
● Up to four 3.5-inch (SAS or SATA) mid drives in slots 14 to 17
● Up to two 3.5-inch (SAS or SATA) rear accessible drives in slots 12 to 13
NOTE: The rear accessible drives can also be 2.5-inch (SAS or SATA) in a hybrid carrier.

Panels and slots Description
1 Left control panel Contains system health and system ID, status LED or iDRAC Quick Sync 2
(wireless).
2 Drive slots Enable you to install drives that are supported on your system. For more
information about the supported drives, see the Technical specifications section.
3 Right control panel Contains the power button, VGA port, iDRAC Direct micro USB port, and two
USB 2.0 ports.
4 Information tag
The Information Tag is a slide-out label panel that contains system information
such as Service Tag, NIC, MAC address, and so on. If you have opted for the
secure default access to iDRAC, the Information tag also contains the iDRAC
secure default password.
