Table 5. Deployment Scenario for Operations Manager 2012 R2
Monitoring Mode Device Count Number of Management Servers
Scalable
<=600 For 2000 network devices, see Sizing Guide for
required number of Management Servers.
Detailed
<=120 For 2000 network devices, see Sizing Guide for
required number of Management Servers.
NOTE: For Operations Manager 2012 SP1, OMIMSSC is not supported.
In a Management Group, for scalable mode you can congure ve Management Servers where each Management Server can be
connected to four Proxy MS and each Proxy MS can support 250 devices which indicate that under one Management Group, you can
scale up to max 5000 nodes.
For detailed mode, each Management Server can be connected to two Proxy MS and each Proxy MS can support 30 devices.
Table 6. Deployment Scenario for Operations Manager 2016
Scenario1: Devices discovery using Operations Manager (SMASH/Network Switch)
Dell EMC devices are discovered as SMASH devices or Network devices in the Operations Manager console. The inputs for SMASH
devices are provided in the SMASH monitoring wizard and for network switches in the network device discovery wizard of the
Operations Manager console.

Scenario 2: Devices discovery using Dell EMC OMIMSSC (iDRAC, Chassis, Network Switch)
Dell EMC devices are discovered as iDRAC, Dell EMC Chassis, or Dell EMC Network switches in Dell EMC OMIMSSC console. The inputs
are provided in the Dell EMC OMIMSSC console and during discovery, the IP address range is provided and appropriate credential prole
is associated with the job.
