NOTE: The host must be mapped with the same access, port, and LUN settings to the same volumes or volume
groups as every other initiator in the host group.
b. For stand-alone hosts, select the Do not group this host option, then click Next.
7. On the Attach Volumes page, specify the name, size, and pool for each volume, and click Next.
To add a volume, click Add Row. To remove a volume, click Remove.
NOTE: Dell EMC recommends that you update the name with the hostname to better identify the volumes.
8. On the Summary page, review the host configuration settings, and click Configure Host.
If the host is successfully configured, a Success dialog box is displayed
9. Click Yes to return to the Introduction page of the wizard, or click No to close the wizard.
Enable multipathing on an ESXI host with FC volumes
Perform the following steps to enable multipathing on the ESXI host with Fibre Channel (FC) volumes:
1. Log in to the VMware vCenter Server, then click on the ESXi host added.
2. On the Configure tab, select Storage Devices.
3. Perform a rescan of the storage devices.
4. Select the FC Disk (Dell EMC Fibre Channel Disk) created in the Register an ESXi host with FC HBAs and create and map
volumes on page 57 procedure, then select the Properties tab below the screen.
5. Click Edit Multipathing, then select Round Robin (VMware) from the drop down list.
6. Click OK.
7. Follow steps 4-6 for all volumes presented from the Dell EMC PowerVault ME4 Series Storage system to ESXi host.
Volume rescan and datastore creation for an FC host server
Perform the following steps to rescan storage and create a datastore:
1. Log in to the VMware vCenter Server, then click the configured ESXi host in step 5 of Attach an ESXi host with FC HBAs to
the storage system on page 57.
2. On the Configure tab, select Storage Adapters.
3. Select the FC software adapter, and click Rescan Storage.
The Rescan Storage dialog box opens.
4. Click OK.
After a successful rescan, the volumes that are displayed in the Register an ESXi host with FC HBAs and create and map
volumes on page 57 section are visible.
5. Create a VMware datastore file system on the ME4 Series volume.
a. On the Configure tab, select Datastore > Add Storage.
b. Select VMFS as the type on New Datastore screen, then click Next.
c. Enter a name for the datastore, select right volume/Lun, and click Next.
d. Select VMFS6 as the VMFS version of datastore, then click OK.
e. On the Partition configuration page, select the default value that is shown, then click Next.
f. Click Finish to complete the creation of the new datastore.
