Command History
Command introduced in version 6.5 firmware.
dot1x max-reauth-req
Use the dot1x max-reauth-req command in Interface Configuration mode to
set the maximum number of times that the switch sends Extensible
Authentication Protocol EAP-Request/Identity frames to which no response is
received before restarting the authentication process. To return to the default
setting, use the no form of the command.
Syntax
dot1x max-reauth-req count
no dot1x max-reauth-req
count — Number of times that the switch sends an EAP-Request/Identity
frame before restarting the authentication process. (Range: 1–20)
Default Configuration
The default value for the count parameter is 2.

User Guidelines
This command limits the number of EAP Request/Identity messages. EAP
Request/Identity messages are sent to identify if the connected host is 802.1X
capable. This setting controls how long the switch will wait to identify non-
802.1X capable hosts on ports configured to authenticate with a method
other than 802.1X. Use the
dot1x max-req
command to limit the number of
EAP Request messages other than EAP Request/Identity.
