Managing Devices
OpenManage Essentials lists devices based on their types. For example, PowerEdge servers are listed under the device type
Servers. OpenManage Essentials contains a dened list of device types. The devices you discover and inventory are included under
these device types. Unclassied devices are listed under the device type Unknown. You can create device groups with combinations
of the dened device types. However, you cannot create a new device types.
In the Devices page, you can:
• View devices types that are discovered on the network.
• View the inventory information for the devices.
• View all the alerts that were generated for a device.
• View the hardware logs for a device.
• Create device groups and include devices to that group based on your grouping preference. For example, you can create a group
and include all devices present at a geographical location.
• Display and manage PowerEdge VRTX and FX2/FX2s devices using Map View.

Viewing Devices
You can view a device that is discovered. For more information on discovering and inventorying a device, see Discovering and
Inventorying Devices.
To view devices, click Manage → Devices.

Device Summary Page
In the device summary page, expand the device types to view the devices. The following device types are displayed:
• Citrix XenServers
• Clients
• Clusters
