About OpenManage Essentials
OpenManage Essentials is a hardware management application that provides a comprehensive view of systems, devices, and
components in the enterprise’s network. With OpenManage Essentials, a web-based and one‑to‑many systems management
application for systems and other devices, you can:
• Discover and inventory the system.
• Monitor the health of the system.
• View and manage system alerts.
• Perform system updates and remote tasks.
• View hardware inventory and compliance reports.
• Deploy or re-provision a server, chassis, or an I/O Aggregator (IOA).
• Manage the conguration baseline of a server or chassis.
• Manage the virtual I/O identity of a server.
What is New in This Release
• Support for simplied device conguration deployment and conguration compliance features by separating deployment
templates and conguration baseline.
• Enhancement in the chassis conguration baseline and deployment template with additional conguration settings for
compliance, deployment, and export features.
• Provision to remediate conguration drift against the server and chassis baselines.
• Provision to backup and restore proles for the servers which are not managed by stateless feature of OpenManage Essentials.
• Support for SNMPv3-based discovery and events.
• Simplied modular infrastructure conguration management by combining chassis and IOA congurations.
• Support for editing the deployment template for boot congurations, network interface settings, and IOA VLAN attributes.
• Support for the following devices:
– 14th generation PowerEdge servers
– Additional models of networking, storage, and Disk Backup devices
– VxRail and XC converged infrastructure
• Enhancements:
– Increase in the time interval of the Alert Ignore Action to ignore duplicate alerts to a maximum of 24 hours.
– Ability to save the purged alerts after the maximum size of alerts log is reached.
– More information in both inventory and hard drive information report to identify if a hard drive is self-encryption capable or
Self-Encrypting Drive (SED).
– Enabling OpenManage Essentials to be used in data centers where the Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) ping is
blocked.
– Enabling the device type-based discovery in the guided wizard.
– Enabling rediscovery of server or chassis by conguring the static IPv4 address during the conguration deployment task.
