Trusted platform module
Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is a dedicated microprocessor designed to secure hardware by integrating cryptographic keys into devices.
Software can use a Trusted Platform Module to authenticate hardware devices. Because each TPM chip has a unique and secret RSA key
which is embedded during the manufacture of the TPM, and it is capable of performing platform authentication operation.
CAUTION: Do not attempt to remove the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) from the server board. After the TPM is installed, it is
cryptographically bound to that specic server board. Any attempt to remove an installed TPM breaks the cryptographic binding,
and it cannot be re-installed or installed on another server board.

Prerequisites
CAUTION
: Do not attempt to remove the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) from the server board. Once the TPM is installed, it is
cryptographically bound to that specic server board. Any attempt to remove an installed TPM breaks the cryptographic binding,
and it cannot be re-installed or installed on another server board.
NOTE: This is a Field Replaceable Unit (FRU). Removal and installation procedures should be performed only by Dell certied
service technicians.
1 Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions section.
2 Complete the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
3 Remove the PCIe card.
Steps
1 Align the trust platform module into the server board connector and insert it.
NOTE
: To locate the TPM connector on the server board, see the server board connectors section.
