Installing the Sun Java Plug-In to Use Mozilla
NOTE: For a list of the latest supported Java Virtual Machine (JVM) plug-ins,
see the racread.txt file located on the Dell Support website at support.dell.com.
You must install the Java plug-in 1.4.2 or later to use the DRAC 4 Virtual
KVM feature with the Mozilla Web browser. To install the Java plug-in,
perform the following steps:
1
Launch the installation script by using the following commands from the
script directory:
chmod a+x j2re-1_4_
<version number>
-linux-i586-
rpm.bin
./j2re-1_4_
<version number>
-linux-i586-rpm.bin
The script displays a binary license agreement, and prompts you to accept
before continuing the installation.
After you accept the license agreement, the installation script creates the
following file in the current directory:
j2re-1_4_<version number>-linux-i586.rpm
2
Log in as the root user.
At the command prompt, type:
su <
power_user_password
>
3
Install the Java plug-in packages that comprise the Java 2 Runtime
Environment (JRE).
At the command prompt, type:
rpm -iv j2re-1_4
<version number>
-linux-i586.rpm
The Java plug-in packages are installed on your system.
