Supported Storage Management Applications

Dell Compellent SMI-S supports HP

Storage Essentials, which is a separately-purchased,

standards-based storage management solution.

To allow HP Storage Essentials to discover the Dell Compellent SMI-S provider and

Storage Centers, make sure that:

• Enterprise Manager Data Collector is up and running

• SMI-S Provider is enabled

• SMI-S Provider user is created

• At least one Storage Center is added to the Enterprise Manager Data Collector

 To enable HP Storage Essentials to discover the Dell Compellent SMI-S Provider:

1 In the directory in which Storage Essentials is installed, navigate to

\JBossandJetty\server\appiq\mappings\generic_array.xml

2 To the line: <mappings type="Generic Array" version="1.0.2, 1.0.3,

1.1.0, 1.2.0, 1.3.0">

, add 1.4.0. For example:

3 In the HP Storage Essentials Discovery > Setup window, click Add Address.

4 Enter the IP address or DNS name for the server where the Enterprise Manager Data

Collector is located. For example:

5 Click OK and Start Discovery to discover the Dell Compellent SMI-S Provider and

managed Storage Centers.
