Troubleshooting Active System Manager License Error Messages
This section describes the following Active System Manager software license-related errors that you may
encounter, along with suggested actions:
License file doesn’t exist in the lux/etc folder
Active System Manager license has expired
Active System Manager application is deployed on un-licensed host machine
Active System Manager application is deployed on un-licensed IP address
Active System Manager license key is valid for previous installed Active System Manager version, but
on upgrade license key is not being validated
In case of corrupted license key string
/etc/hosts file has incorrect format
Table 2-1 lists the Active System Manager license error messages, including their respective server
message and suggested action.

Contact the Active System Manager
administrator, who should then request a new
license from the Dell Active System Manager
support team.

Manager hostname is not valid.
Please contact your Active System
Manager administrator.
You should deploy the Active System Manager
software on a licensed host or contact the Active
System Manager administrator, who should then
request a new license from the Dell Active
System Manager support team for the targeted
host machine.
Active System Manager
application is deployed on
un-licensed IP Address
server.license.103 = Active System
Manager IP address is not valid.
Please contact your Active System
Manager administrator.
You need to deploy the Active System Manager
software on a licensed IP Address, or contact to
the Active System Manager administrator, who
should request a new license from the Dell
Active System Manager support team for the
targeted IP Address.
Active System Manager
license key is valid for
previous installed Active
System Manager version,
but on upgrade license key
is not being validated
server.license.102 = License version
is not valid. Please contact your
Active System Manager administrator.
You need to contact the Active System Manager
administrator, who should request a new license
from the Dell Active System Manager support
team for the newly-installed Active System
Manager build (if the license build version has
changed).
In case of corrupted license
key string
server.license.106 = Invalid license
key. Please contact your Active
System Manager administrator.
You should not alter the license key information
present in the license.lic file; however, if the file
has been altered/updated/corrupted, then you
need to contact the Active System Manager
administrator, who should request a new license
from the Active System Manager support team.
/etc/hosts file has
incorrect format
License is not valid. Please contact
your Active System Manager
administrator.
In your /etc/hosts file add an alternative to
“localhost” on the line with 127.0.0.1.
