Overview of Data Guardian Features and Policies
This topic provides a brief overview of the Data Guardian key features and policies.
Protect data in use, in motion, or at rest
The following are some of the key Data Guardian features that allow you to protect data:
• Basic File Protection - allows an enterprise to sweep users' computers and encrypt a large
number of file types (non-Office). Encrypted files are logged and audited.
• Office document protection - allows an enterprise to encrypt Office documents and PDFs for
Windows or Mac with opt-in mode, Windows or Mac with Force-protected mode,
mobile
devices, and a Data Guardian web portal.
In addition, Windows and opt-in mode have:
• Content Based Protection - Based on content rules, a sweep of users' computers
encrypts files that contain specified content like account numbers or Social Security
Numbers.
• TITUS classification
• Cloud Encryption
• Access Groups - Administrators can specify groups and only those users can view the
encrypted files.
