Use Protected Oce Documents with Mobile
Your administrator will tell you which options are enabled for your enterprise. When you have Data Guardian installed and open a protected
Oce document, a message displays that the document is decrypting.
Data Guardian Options for Oce Documents
These Data Guardian options display.
• Create - Based on the policy setting, the document is protected when you create it. The header of this le displays Protected
Document.
• Copy/Paste - With a protected Oce document, you can only copy to another protected Oce document.
• Print - Based on additional policy settings, you may have a watermark when you print.
• Export - Based on additional policy settings, you may have a watermark when you export.
When an Oce document is open, tap the icon in the upper left for these options:
• Save
• Save as
• Export
• Exit
Additional Oce options based on policy:
• Edit - You can edit .docx and .ppt Oce les.
NOTE
:
Currently, .csv and .csv.xen les cannot be edited on mobile
devices.
• Hidden watermark - Based on policy, protected Oce documents may have a hidden watermark that identies the user. If you print or
share the document, the watermark persists.
• Onscreen watermark - When any protected Oce document is open, a watermark displays on the client screen.

Protected Oce Documents When Oine
When your create a protected Oce document or protected macro-enabled document and are oine, a key is created for that document.
When the device comes online, the keys are uploaded to the Dell Server. If a device is oine for three days, a notication states that Data
Guardian has not been able to contact the Dell Server. The notication displays daily until you connect to the network. To view the
encrypted les, the mobile device must be online.
Troubleshooting protected Oce documents
On an iOS device, if you open a protected Oce document greater than 25 MB and a low memory dialog displays, the warning is from
Polaris Oce, not Data Guardian. If the device has sucient memory, close the le and reopen it.
