If you use Tags in an Oce document to trigger a classication used in the policy's le tag metadata, the tag you use in the Oce
document is case sensitive and must match the case used by your administrator in the policy.
NOTE:
If this policy is enabled, a sweep will cause les that meet the content rules to be encrypted. However, when you create the le, you
can right-click and select Protect File.
See also Outlook Email Encryption with Data Guardian.
Local Report for Protected Oce Documents Encrypted with Data Classication (Opt-in Mode)
To protect sensitive information in Oce documents and PDFs, your administrator may set a policy to sweep and then encrypt les based
on Data Classication rules. Sensitive information may include Social Security Numbers, credit card numbers, United States addresses, or
enterprise-specic data. Your administrator will inform you of sensitive information that will cause your les to be encrypted.
To view a local report of les encrypted due to classication rules and the reason for that encryption:
1 Navigate to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Dell\Data Guardian.
2 Open the Classication Report.log.
NOTE:
If a le is in the process of being encrypted, the entry may have multiple lines until the encryption is
complete.
TITUS Classication and Opt-in Mode
If a policy is enabled, your administrator congures some TITUS classications to encrypt a document with that classication. You can
right-click an unprotected Oce document and select that TITUS classication. This provides another way to protect an Oce document.
Determine Which Opt-in Mode Documents are Protected
If you have Opt-in mode and want to conrm if a document is protected or not, open the document and the title bar lists it as protected.
NOTE
:
If you have Force-Protected mode, all Oce documents are protected.
