An unauthorized user accesses one of your Oce les - The cover page displays with an enterprise-specic message, but the user
cannot view the content of the le.
Observe File Menu Options
Protected Save As
To determine if your administrator has enabled Data Guardian policies, open an Oce document and select File. If Protected Save As
displays in the left pane, you have additional protection on Oce documents.
If you select Protected Save As, the only option in the Save as type eld is Protected.
File > Info
Add Date Restriction displays if your administrator enabled that policy. See Enhance Security by Adding Date Restrictions.
Properties information about this Oce document, such as author and date, is hidden for greater security.

The Protect Document option in File > Info relates to Microsoft Oce not Data Guardian's Protected
mode.
If you open an Oce document and it indicates read-only mode, check the following:
If Protected Save As does not display in the left pane, read-only is not related to Data Guardian policies.
Determine the Level of Security for Oce Documents
To determine the level of security, observe options that are enabled or disabled:
Opt-in mode - You have some options in determining which Oce documents to protect.
