Prerequisites for resetting Windows 8.1
You can reset for Windows 8.1 Home and Pro.
NOTE:
If you have upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, Windows will revert to Windows 8 post reset. You will have
to manually upgrade it to Windows 8.1.
The prerequisites for resetting Windows 8.1:
● Ensure to backup all important data and close all applications before proceeding with Windows Reset. Also, make sure you
have unplugged all external media (USB drive, external hard disk) except for recovery media (if applicable).
● Ensure that your system is plugged in before proceeding with reset. If the system crashes during reset, your system might
end up in an unusable state.
● Ensure your system supports Windows Reset.
● Ensure you have either a recovery media (USB drive/DVD) or a recovery partition on your system.
Computer manufacturers (OEMs) usually ship systems with recovery partitions. To check if your system has recovery partitions:
1. Press Windows + R key to open Run window.
2. Type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter. You should see a partition that mentions Recovery like the screenshot below.
