Figure 61. Verifying Code in Dell Data Assistant
During this process, the Dell Data Assistant window might switch back to the previous screen due to one of the following
reasons:
● Network got disconnected on either of PCs
● WiFi was turned off on any of the PCs
● Either of the PCs are connected to VPN
● Modem/Router was turned off
● New PC running Dell Migrate (within SupportAssist) was turned off
● You have manually blocked the firewall incoming option from Window Defender Firewall or any other firewall
● Anti-Virus software is blocking the firewall connection to communicate between two PCs
Troubleshooting issues during code verification
If the verification code is not displayed or if it was displaying and moved back to previous screen, you can follow these steps:
● If the network got disconnected on either of PCs, then make sure to reconnect both PCs to the same network. Once both
PCs are connected, wait for a moment for the verification code to appear on Dell Data Assistant and enter the same code in
the Dell Migrate (within SupportAssist) window.
● If the PC was connected to a VPN, there may be a possibility that the Dell Data Assistant could show the verification code,
but it will likely not pair when the code is entered on the new PC. VPNs must be disconnected on both PCs. After a few
seconds the verification code should appear and can then be entered on the other PC. Make sure both PCs are not
connected to VPN while trying to pair them or in any step of the migration process.
● If the firewall has been configured to block incoming connections by checking the incoming rules option in Windows
Defender Firewall application, then that option should be unchecked and the configuration should be saved. The verification
code screen will appear in a moment. If the code does not appear then restart the application.
● Make sure any Anti-Virus software that is installed on the system is not blocking the Dell Data Assistant application from
communicating on the network.
Migrate multiple profiles
About this task
When multiple windows user profiles are present on the old PC, Dell Data Assistant will prompt the you to migrate all the profiles
before proceeding with erase. This is to make sure that you do not lose your user profiles as a result of the erase process. If you
do not need those user profiles, you may simply click Proceed to move ahead with the migration process.
