Launch Dell Data Assistant on your old PC
Dell Data Assistant helps you transfer files and settings to your new Dell PC and erase personal files and settings from your old
PC.
About this task
Dell Data Assistant can be downloaded from the Dell Migrate official website or by clicking Dell Data Assistant.exe.
Steps
1. Ensure that you are using a compatible version of Windows Operating System (Windows 8.1 or higher) to perform the
migration from your old PC to your new Dell PC.
2. On your old PC, make sure you are logged in as an administrator, or the account you are currently logged in with has
administrative privileges on the PC.
3. Open your browser and download Dell Data Assistant. Once downloaded, run Dell Data Assistant from your browser's
downloads bar PC or by navigating to the Downloads folder.

4. Dell Data Assistant will show a loading screen, run the required prechecks on the PC and prompt you if any of the pre-
requisites could not be met. To know what prechecks are performed by Dell Data Assistant, refer to Device discovery and
prechecks on page 24.
