Conguring FlexAddress for Server-Level Slots Using RACADM
To congure the exaddress for Server-level slots using RACADM:
racadm setflexaddr [-i <slot#> <state>] [-f <fabricName> <state>]
where, <slot#> = 1 to 16
<fabricName> = A, B, C
<state> = 0 or 1
0 is disable and 1 is enable.
Additional FlexAddress Conguration for Linux
When changing from a server-assigned MAC ID to chassis-assigned MAC ID on Linux-based operating systems, additional conguration
steps may be required:
• SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 and 10 — You may need to run Yet Another Setup Tool (YAST) on the Linux system to congure the
network devices and then restart the network services.
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5: Run Kudzu, a utility to detect and congure new or changed hardware on
the system. Kudzu displays The Hardware Discovery Menu; it detects the MAC address change as hardware was removed and new
hardware added.
Viewing WWN or MAC Address Information
You can view the virtual address inventory of Network Adapters for each server slot or all servers in a chassis. The virtual address inventory
includes the following:
• Fabric Conguration
NOTE
:
– Fabric A displays the type of the Input/Output fabric installed. If Fabric A is enabled, unpopulated slots display chassis-assigned
MAC addresses for Fabric A.
– iDRAC management controller is not a fabric, but its FlexAddress is considered as a fabric.
– A check mark against the component indicates that the fabric is enabled for FlexAddress or FlexAddressPlus.
• Protocol that is being used on the NIC Adapter port. For example, LAN, iSCSI, FCoE, and so on.
• Fibre Channel World Wide Name (WWN) conguration and Media Access Control (MAC) addresses of a slot in the chassis.
• MAC address assignment type and the current active address type — Server assigned, FlexAddress, or I/O Identity MAC. A black
check mark indicates the active address type, either server-assigned, chassis-assigned, or remote assigned.
• Status of the NIC partitions for devices supporting partitioning.
