Users Guide
six 2700W AC PSU configuration, the additional power available in standard fan configurations mode, is
1023W.
The EPP additional power available is 2700W, which can be used to increase server performance only.
The EPP mode can be enabled only when the following power features are disabled:
• Max Power Conservation Mode (MPCM)
• Dynamic Power Supply engagement (DPSE)
• Server Based Power Management (SBPM)
• Server Performance Over Power Redundancy (SPOPR)
Trying to enable EPP when any of the four features, MPCM, DPSE, SBPM or SPOPR, is enabled results in
display of a message. The message prompts you to disable these four features before Extended Power
Performance mode can be enabled. When Extended Power Performance mode is enabled, any of these
other three features, DPSE, SBPM or SPOPR, cannot be enabled. You are prompted to disable Extended
Power Performance feature before any of these three features can be enabled.
Firmware downgrade to version earlier than CMC 4.5 firmware is blocked by the current firmware when
the chassis is equipped with 3000W AC PSUs. The reason for this is that CMC firmware versions earlier
than CMC 4.5 do not support 3000W AC PSUs.
Default Power Configurations With Extended Power Performance (EPP)
Default Power Configurations on the Chassis when EPP mode is enabled or disabled:
• On 3000W AC six PSUs configuration with Grid Redundancy policy:
EPP Enabled – DPSE Disabled, SPOPR Disabled, MPCM Disabled, SBPM Disabled
• Running the commandracadm racresetcfg on 3000W AC PSU configuration, resets the power
configurations to the following values:
EPP Disabled – DPSE Disabled, SPOPR Disabled, MPCM Disabled, SBPM Disabled
• On 3000W AC with less than six PSUs configuration:
EPP Disabled – DPSE Disabled, SPOPR Disabled, MPCM Disabled, SBPM Disabled
• On 2700W AC PSU configuration:
EPP Disabled – DPSE Disabled, SPOPR Enabled, MPCM Disabled, SBPM Disabled
• Using racadm racresetcfg on 2700W AC PSU configuration, resets the power configurations to the
following values:
EPP Disabled – DPSE Disabled, SPOPR Disabled, MPCM Disabled, SBPM Disabled
• On a Fresh Air enabled chassis configurations, 3000W PSUs are displayed as 2800W and EPP is not
supported.
Dynamic Power Supply Engagement
Dynamic Power Supply Engagement (DPSE) mode is disabled by default. DPSE saves power by optimizing
the power efficiency of the PSUs supplying power to the chassis. This also increases the PSU life, and
reduces heat generation.
CMC monitors total enclosure power allocation, and moves the PSUs to Standby state. Moving the PSUs
to standby state:
