Owner's Manual

Using the CMC Web Interface 209
if a BIOS component on one of the servers is selected for update, the filter
is set to the BIOS automatically and the inventory section displays the
servers that match the model name of the selected server.
Enabling the filter allows the associated component or device to be filtered
on the
Firmware Inventory
section. After a filter is enabled, only the
associated components or devices can be viewed across all servers present
in the chassis. The filter is a pass filter; this means that it only permits
components or devices associated with the filter and excludes all others.
One or more (or all) filters can be selected as needed.
The components and devices are grouped into the following categories:
–BIOS
–iDRAC
Unified Server Configurator (Lifecycle Controller Enabled)
–32-bit Diagnostics
–OS-Driver Pack
Network Interface Controllers (NIC) and RAID Controllers
Component/Device Firmware Inventory: This section summarizes the
status of the firmware versions of all the components and devices across all
the servers currently present in the chassis. Options to perform the various
Lifecycle Controller Operations such as Update, Rollback, Reinstall, and
Job Deletion are available. Only one type of operation can be performed at
a time.
Servers that currently do not support the Lifecycle Controller service are
listed as Not Supported. A hyperlink is provided allowing navigation to an
alternative page where it is possible to directly update only the iDRAC
firmware. This page does not support the update of any of the components
and devices on the server. Only the iDRAC firmware can be updated on this
alternative page and is not dependent on the Lifecycle Controller facility.
If the server is listed as Not Ready, this indicates that when the firmware
inventory was retrieved, the iDRAC on the server was still initializing. Wait
for the iDRAC to be fully operational and then refresh the page for the
firmware inventory to be retrieved again.
