Accessing the CMC Through a Network
After you have configured the CMC network settings, you can remotely
access the CMC using any of the following interfaces:
•Web interface
• Telnet console
• SSH
• Remote RACADM
NOTE: Since telnet is not as secure as the other interfaces, it is disabled by default.
Enable Telnet using web, ssh, or remote RACADM.

Interface Description
Web interface Provides remote access to the CMC using a graphical user
interface. The Web interface is built into the CMC firmware
and is accessed through the NIC interface from a supported
Web browser on the management station.

Remote RACADM
command line
interface
Provides remote access to the CMC from a management station
using a command line interface (CLI). Remote RACADM uses
the racadm -r option with the CMC’s IP address to execute
commands on the CMC.
For more information on remote racadm, see "Accessing
RACADM Remotely" on page 74 and subsequent sections.
Telnet Provides command line access to the CMC through the network.
The RACADM command line interface and the connect
command, which is used to connect to the serial console of a
server or IO module, are available from the CMC command line.
NOTE: Telnet is an insecure protocol that transmits all data—
including passwords—in plain text. When transmitting sensitive
information, use the SSH interface.
SSH Provides the same capabilities as Telnet using an encrypted
transport layer for greater security.
