4. Under the Settings section, in the
Component Name text box, type the component name.(Optional)
5. In the Storage Volume and the
Storage pool text boxes, type a unique name.(Optional)
6. Update the values of Storage size, Thin Provisioning, Snapshot Reserve %, Thin Min Reserve %, Thin
growth Warning %
, Thin growth Maximum %, Thin warning on threshold %, Multi-Host access of
volume text boxes.
7. From the Authenticationdrop-down list, select authentication type as CHAP.
8. Update the Chap user name and
Chap secret text boxes for volume access.
9. Select your target EqualLogic iSCSI array.
10. Next, select the server component. Repeat the following steps for all 7 servers.
a. Under the Settings section, in the Component Name
text box, type the component name.
(Optional)
b. Under Hardware Settings section, retain the value of Target Boot Device as default value of SD
Card.
c. Under the Hardware Settings section, from the Server Pool drop-down list, select the server
pool which contains a target server.
d. To select the administrator password which configures on the deployed OS, under the OS
Settings section, in the Administrator password text box, type the administrator password.
e. Under the OS Settings section, in the Confirm administrator password text box, type the
password again.
NOTE: It is critical to update the password within this template. The value in the template is
masked, but the actual password is not set. If this password is not set, you cannot log in to
the deployed server.
f. Under the OS Settings section, from the OS Image drop-down list, select an OS for a hypervisor
(Example: ESXi 5.1 or ESX 5.5 ) which is configured to be deployed within your ASM managed
environment.
g. Under the OS Settings section, retain the ESXi value as default in the OS Image Type drop-down
list.
h. Under Network Settings section, update the network settings accordingly for the hypervisor
you are deploying and for the configured networks in your environment.
11. Next select the cluster component.
12. Under the Settings section, in the Component Name text box, type the component name.(Optional)
13. Under the Cluster Settings section, select the target vCenter.
14. Under the Cluster Settings section, in the Data Center Name, Cluster, and
Cluster Data Store text
boxes, type their corresponding names.
15. To save the settings, click Save.
16. To publish the template, click Publish Template.
The template is now ready to be deployed.
Template – Deploy OS to Hard Drive
This template deploys an OS to the local hard disk drive of a bare metal server. A single server component
is available in the Template Builder.
1. To clone a template, select the template, and then click the Clone button.
2. In the Create Template dialog box, in the Template Name and Template Description text boxes,
type a name and description for the template.
