Installing Certificate Services on Active Directory server
1. Click StartAdministrative ToolsServer Manager.
2. Click RolesAdd Roles.
3. Click Next on the Before You Begin window.
4. Check Active Directory Certificate Services, and click Next.
5. Click Next on the Introduction window.
6. Check Certification Authority and Certification Authority Web Enrollment, and click Add Required Role Services
on the pop-up window. Click Next.
7. Choose Enterprise, and click Next.
8. Choose Root CA, and click Next.
9. Choose Create a new private key, and click Next.
10. Leave defaults on the Configure Cryptography for CA window, and click Next.
11. Leave defaults on the Configure CA Name window, and click Next.
12. Leave defaults on the Set Validity Period, and click Next.
13. Leave defaults on the Configure Certificate Database window, and click Next.
14. Click Next on the Web Server (IIS) window.
15. Leave defaults on the Select Role Services window, and click Next.
16. Click Install.
17. Click Close.
Prepping Active Directory for Lync Server testing
A number of steps must be performed on the Active Directory server for Lync Server testing. We cover these in
detail below.
Prepping Schema
1. Insert the installation DVD for Lync Server 2010 into the DVD drive.
2. Double-click the CD-DVD drive in Windows to start the installation wizard.
3. Click Yes on the prompt to install the Visual C++ Redistributable Package.
4. When prompted, click Install to start the Deployment Wizard.
5. Accept the terms in the license agreement, and click OK.
6. Click Prepare Active Directory.
7. Click Run for Step 1: Prep Schema.
8. Click Next on the wizard welcome screen.
9. Click Finish.
Prepping Forest
1. Back on the Active Directory Preparation window, click Run for Step 3: Prep Forest.
2. Click Next on the Wizard welcome window.
3. Leave the local domain selected on the Universal Group Location window, and click Next.
4. Click Finish.
