APPENDIX C - STORAGE CONFIGURATION FOR PERFORMANCE TESTING
We used two Dell EqualLogic PS6110XV arrays, configured in a single group. Each array was cabled to the Dell
Force10 S4810 TOR switch via 10Gb network cables. On the group we configured volumes as follows.
Lync Server 100 GB
Exchange Data 2 TB
Exchange Log 50 GB
Exchange OS 100 GB
SharePoint Data 250 GB
SharePoint OS 100 GB
SQL Data 1 300 GB
SQL Data 2 300 GB
SQL Data 3 300 GB
SQL Data 4 300 GB
SQL Logs 1 200 GB
SQL Logs 2 200 GB

Setting up the Dell EqualLogic PS6110XV storage array
Connect to the storage array using serial port and terminal utility and complete the following steps:
1. Power on the array and enter the login credentials.
2. When prompted to configure the array, type y.
3. When asked Do you want to proceed?, type Yes.
4. Enter a member name and press Enter. For our testing we chose tray1.
5. Press Enter for the eth0 network interface.
6. Enter an IP address, and press Enter. For our testing, we chose 192.10.11.11.
7. Leave the default netmask, and press Enter.
8. Leave the default gateway, and press Enter.
9. Enter a group name and press Enter. For our testing, we chose group.
10. Enter an IP address for the group, and press Enter. For our testing, we chose 192.10.11.1.
11. Enter a password for this group, and press Enter.
12. Confirm all configurations and finish the group creation.
13. Open a web browser using a machine on the storage network and browse to the group IP address.
14. Provide the appropriate login credentials when prompted.
15. Select the unconfigured member in the group, and click Yes to configure it.
16. At the General Settings screen, click Next.
17. Select the RAID policy, and click Next. For our testing, we selected RAID 10.
18. At the Summary screen, click Finish.
