Installation guide

3. In the “Language Selecon Page”, select the language or languages for your CRS installaon. Click “Next”.
4. In the “Cluster Conguraon Page”, enter a globally unique cluster name. Do not use special characters such as (, ), !, @,
#, %, ^, &, and *. Also enter a public and a private node name for each node, without any domain qualiers. Use the primary
and private entered in the hosts le in an earlier step. Click “Next.
5. In the “Private Interconnect Enforcement” page, a list is displayed of all of the cluster network interfaces. For each
interface, you must choose “Public”, “Private”, or “Do Not Use” from the drop-down menus. The default seng for each
interface is “Do Not Use”. You are required to classify at least one interconnect as Public and one as Private.
6. The “Select Disk Formang Opons Page” is used to indicate what logical drives (if any) will be formaed for OCFS. There
are several dierent opons:
a. Format two logical drives for data and soware storage. Choosing this opon creates two cluster le systems,
one for the database les and one for a shared Oracle Home. The OCR and vong disk are created on the cluster
le system for data les.
b. Format one logical drive for soware storage. In this case, a shared Oracle Home is created. You could use this
opon if you wished to place the Oracle Home on OCFS, and the data les on ASM storage. You would also be
required to provide two extra logical parons, one for the OCR and one for the vong disk. The method for
creang logical drives is listed above. These parons will be stamped with “ocrcfg” for the OCR and “votedsk”
for the vong disk.
c. Format one logical drive for data le storage. In this case, one cluster le system for the database les is created.
The OCR and vong disk are also stored on the cluster le system.
Aer choosing an opon, click Next to move to the next page.
7. The next few pages that are displayed depend on the opon you chose on the “Select Disk Formang Opons” page. All
subsequent pages are listed below:
a. The “Select Soware Storage Drive” page is displayed if you selected the “Format two logical drives for data and
soware storage” opon or the “Format one logical drive for soware storage” opon. Choose a shared drive from
the list, then choose a paron from the next list with enough space to contain all Oracle soware. Click next to
connue.
b. The “Select Data Storage Drive” page is displayed if you selected the “Format two logical drives for data and so
ware storage” opon or the “Format one logical drive for data le storage” opon. Choose a shared drive from the
list, then choose a paron from the next list with enough space to contain all of the Oracle database les. Click
Next to connue.
c. The “Disk Conguraon – Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR)” page is displayed if you selected the “Format one logical
drive for soware storage” opon or the “Do not format any logical drives” opon. Choose a paron from the list
with enough space to contain the OCR. Click Next to connue.
d. The “Disk Conguraon – Vong Disk” page is displayed if you selected the “Format one logical drive for
soware storage” opon or the “Do not format any logical drives” opon. Choose a paron from the list with
enough space to contain the Vong Disk. Click Next to connue.
8. Aer you click Next, the OUI sets up remote registry inventories by seng registry keys, if not already done. Write
permissions on the remote registries are also checked. Aer successful compleon of these steps, a Summary page is
displayed that shows cluster node informaon and space requirements and availability. Aer you have veried the planned
installaon, then click Finish.
9. The installaon proceeds with the installaon of OCFS and creaon of any required OCFS le systems. In addion,
CRS soware is also installed on the local node. Aer the installaon is validated on the rst node, the OUI completes the
installaon of CRS soware on the remote nodes.
