6. Remove the cooling fan cage assembly.
NOTE: To avoid damaging the backplane, ensure to move the control panel cables from the cable routing clips before
removing the backplane.
NOTE: Route the cable properly when you replace it to prevent the cable from being pinched or crimped.
Steps
1. Align the slots on the drive backplane with the guides on the system.
2. Slide the drive backplane into the guides and lower the backplane until the blue release tabs clicks into place.
3. Route the cables properly through the cable guide.

Next steps
1. Connect the drive backplane cables to the connector on the system board and backplane.
2. Install the cooling fan cage assembly.
3. Install the drives.
4. If removed, install the air shroud or install the GPU air shroud.
5. Install the drive backplane cover.
6. Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system.

This is a service technician replaceable part only.
