Defining Passwords and User Privilege Levels Using the CLI

Enter the CLI context.
2 Type enable password level <level> <password>
Where level is a number from 1 through 15, with 1 the lowest level and 15 the
highest level. Level 15 specifies the Privileged EXEC mode, which is the default level.
Where password is the password for the specified level. Enter a password from 1 to
32 alphanumeric characters. After you enter it, the password is encrypted for security.

3 Ty p e exit.
The CLI context is exited.
Recovering Passwords
The password recovery method is invoked from the Startup menu.
1 Boot or reboot the device, and press <Enter> within 2 seconds.
The Startup menu displays:

[5] Password Recovery Procedure

Ty p e 5 and press <Enter>.
The access method is reset.
NOTE: To ensure device integrity, redefine the Console Access Method passwords.
