Safety Features
Super Duty Pickups include a number of safety
features to help protect the driver and passengers in
the event of certain collisions:
• Single-stagedriverandrightfrontpassengerairbags
• Electroniccrashseveritysensor
• Frontoutboardsafetybeltenergymanagement
retractors and pretensioners
• RestraintControlModule
Safety Canopy System with Roll Sensor
• Sidecurtainairbagsprovideheadprotectionforall
outboard seating positions
• Systemincludessidecurtainairbagsandrollsensor
• Locatedintheroofsiderailbehindtheheadliner,the
side curtain airbags deploy downward and outward
toward the side window opening to protect the
heads of outboard passengers in the first row on
Regular Cab and the first and second rows on
Crew Cab and SuperCab
• Sideaircurtainsaretriggeredindependentlyofthe
driver and front passenger airbags by side-impact
sensors or by the roll sensor
• Roll-foldtechnologyhelpstheairbagslidebetween
the glass and occupant as it inflates
• Sidecurtainairbagswillnotinterferewithproperly
installed child safety seats or booster seats
• Canopyisdesignedtostayinflatedlongerforadded
protection in a rollover or multiple side impacts
Front-seat Side Airbags
• Designedtoprotectchestandtorsoofthe
driver and front passenger in the event of a
side-impact collision
• Airbagsdeployfromthesideoftheseatbackbolsters
so that they always inflate to provide maximum
protection, regardless of the seat fore/aft position
Child Seat Tethers
• StandardonRegularCabfrontcenterandright
passenger seat and all rear seating positions on
SuperCab and Crew Cab
Hill Descent Control
• IncludedandonlyavailablewiththeFX4
Off-Road Package (SRW only)
• Helpsthedrivertoconcentrateondriving,sincethe
system helps maintain vehicle speed on a steep
decline at speeds between 2 and 20 mph
• ActivatedbypressingtheHillDescentControlbutton
located on the right side of the instrument panel
center stack
• Onceactivated,utilizesthetruck’sAnti-lockBraking
System (ABS) to help the driver control vehicle
descent, allowing the driver to concentrate on steering
• Onceset,speedcanbeincreasedbypressingthe
accelerator pedal until the desired speed is met and
then releasing the pedal
– System speed can be decreased by pressing the
brake pedal until the desired speed is met and then
releasing the pedal
• Systemisactivatedatspeedsbetween20and40
mph but descent speed cannot be set or maintained
• Systemdisengageswhenvehiclespeedexceeds
40 mph
