Troubleshooting
Problem Possible Cause Solution
The light will not come on. Batteries are dead. Replace the three “C” alkaline bat-
teries.
Daylight turn-off (photocell) is in
effect.
Recheck after dark.
Surrounding air temperature is
greater than 122° F (50° C) or less
than -4° F (-20° C).
Recheck when the surrounding air
temperature is within the specied
range.
The light comes on during
the day.
The light xture is mounted in a dark
location.
Relocate the light xture to an area that
receives more light.
The light comes on for no
apparent reason.
The motion sensor may be sensing
small animals, automobile trafc, or
other heat sources.
Reposition the light so the motion sensor
is positioned away from the area of
movement.
The lights stay on
continuously.
The motion sensor may be picking
up a heat source, such as an air vent,
dryer vent, or brightly painted, heat-
reective surface.
Relocate the light xture to an area away
from the heat source.
The lights ash on and off. The photocontrol may be sensing
shadows.
Relocate the light xture to an area
away from shadows.
Heat is being reected from other
objects and may be turning the
motion sensor on and off.
Relocate the light xture to an area
away from the heat source.
