TOOLS REQUIRED WRENCH/RATCHET 13mm, 15mm, 7/16" 1 Install the 8mm nutsert [I] as shown below. The passenger's side is shown. The front of the vehicle is to the left of the picture.
Use the nutsert set tool [H] to crimp the nutserts in the holes. Hold the nut on the set tool with a 15mm wrench. Tighten the bolt in the set tool with a 13mm socket. Torque the nutserts to the spcification below to insure they are set correctly. 3 Put a 8mm x 25mm bolt [J] through the top hole in the braces and thread into the 8mm threaded plate [K] until the bolt starts to come through the threaded plate. Repeat this for the other braces.
When the brace is put up to the vehicle mounting location, the threaded plate must go into the large slot above the nutserts previously installed. Thread 2 of the 8mm x 25mm bolts [J] through the slots in the braces into the nutserts. Only engage the bolts a few threads into the nutserts. Repeat this step at the other two brace mounting locations.
Push up on the brace to put tension on the threaded plate in the large slot. Tighten the bolt with the threaded plate using a 13mm socket. Air tools are recommended for this. After the bolt with the threaded plate is tightened, tighten the remaining 8mm bolts. Repeat this step for the other brace locations. 6 Pre-assemble the end cap [D] and strap bracket [F] using two 1/4" short bolts [G], four washers [M], and two nuts [N]. Leave the parts somewhat loose for the next step.
Slide the pre-assembled end cap into the end of the board [A] until the end cap is flush with the end of the board. The end cap must be inside the board and the strap bracket outside the board. Tighten the bolts with a 7/16" wrench and socket. Before attaching the second end cap, slide three of the strap bracket [F] into the running board. For regular cab trucks, slide two of the strap bracket [F] into the running board. Attach the other end cap.
Align the strap brackets [F] that were placed inside the board in the previous step with the braces that are attached to the vehicle. Place an angle brace [E] on the brace board mounting area. Attach the board to the brace using the long 1/4" bolt [L], 1/4" washer [M], and 1/4" nut [N]. Do not completely tighten at this time.
Align the board with the vehicle from from to back and in/out. Once the board is in the desired location, tighten the bolts that attach the board to the brace using a 7/16" wrench and socket. Make sure all bolts are tightened. Repeat steps for other side.
